We conducted a test by streaming a video in 720p and analyzing the performance by keeping the router at various distances from the laptop on which the video was played. 2.4 GHz Throughput
The Netgear AC1750 shows great results whenever the distance is short, that is, around 10 feet from the device. We conducted two tests, one with a clear line of sight and the other with a wall in its line of sight. With the clear line of sight at 10 feet, the router delivered a speed of 48 Mbits/s, while with the obstruction, it delivered an average speed of 47 Mbits/s.
When placed at 30 feet from a computer, the router delivered an average speed of 43 Mbits/s with a clear line of sight and 37 Mbits/s when there was a wall.
We also did a test placing the router at a distance of 65 feet and the router delivered an average speed of 25 Mbit/s.
5 GHz Throughput
The performance of this router is amazing at the 5 GHz frequency. The router delivered high speeds of 211 Mbits/s and 201 Mbits/s when tested at a medium distance without and with an obstruction respectively. Though the performance drops a bit when there is an obstruction, it is still high enough to perform various online activities.
